Oswego Pedestrian Injured In MVA

OSWEGO, NY – At approximately 1:41 p.m. today (March 21), Oswego City Police responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle near the intersection of East First Street and East Bridge Street in the city of Oswego.

Upon arrival the pedestrian, identified as Karen S. Russell, 52, of Oswego, was found to be lying in the roadway, but was conscious and alert.

Also on scene was the driver of the vehicle which struck Mrs. Russell, who was identified as David R. Kyle, 50, of Sterling.

The investigation, corroborated by several witnesses, determined that Mr. Kyle had been traveling northbound on East First Street and proceeded to turn left through a green arrow to go westbound onto the Bridge Street bridge.

At that time he struck Mrs. Russell, who was in the pedestrian crosswalk, walking northbound.

Mrs. Russell suffered an apparent head injury, as well as other possible injuries, and was transported by Oswego City Fire Department Ambulance to Syracuse University Hospital.

At the time of this press release further information regarding her condition was not available.

Mr. Kyle was ticketed for Failure to Exercise Due Care, Pedestrian.
