Personal Injury MVA Investigated

OSWEGO, NY – At about 11:37 a.m. today (Oct. 31),  Oswego Police and Fire departments responded to State Route 104 at West Fifth Street for a personal injury motor vehicle accident.

According to initial reports, two vehicles collided at the State Route 104 / West Fifth Street intersection as one vehicle, a four-door sedan operated by 18-year-old Connor R.C. Pena of Fort Drum, was traveling east on State Route 104, and attempted to make a left turn onto West Fifth Street, but turned into the path of an oncoming motor vehicle, a Sport Utility Vehicle, operated by 66-year-old Carolyn M. Dennis of Oswego, which was traveling west on State Route 104.

Upon the collision, the SUV continued to travel off of the roadway striking two pedestrians that had been standing on the sidewalk located on the northwest corner of that intersection.

The vehicle came to rest within a few feet of striking the former Knights of Columbus building located at 130 W. Fifth St.

One pedestrian, 35-year-old Malita A. Paigl of Schenectady was transported to University Hospital in Syracuse, for possible head injuries.

The other pedestrian, 48-year-old Tracy L. Starr of Ravena, NY, was transported to Oswego Hospital for a leg injury.

The operator of the SUV was the only occupant of that vehicle and she was transported to Oswego Hospital for a complaint of neck/back pain.

The sedan had a total of four occupants; one rear seat passenger of that vehicle, 19-year-old Laura L. Searor of Oswego, was also transported to Oswego Hospital for a complaint of leg pain.
