Registered Sex Offender Arrested for Sex Abuse

PULASKI, NY – State Police in Pulaski arrested 34 year-old John R. Minckler Jr., from 234 Beach Road in Cleveland, NY on the following charges:

• Predatory Sexual Assault against a Child, a class A-II felony
• Criminal Mischief 3rd, a class “E” felony
• Reckless Endangerment, a class “A” misdemeanor
• Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer, a class “A” misdemeanor

On October 30, at approximately 12:15 a.m., investigators Joseph Harriger and Todd Grant were actively looking for John R. Minckler, who was a suspect in a sex abuse case involving a boy under the age of 13.

Minckler was located in his vehicle parked at the Denny’s restaurant located off of State Route 11 in the town of Cicero.

Investigator Harriger approached the suspect’s vehicle on foot and engaged Minckler in conversation and identified himself as a member of the State Police.

Allegedly, Minckler immediately reversed his vehicle almost striking Investigator Harriger and continued to back up striking the front end of the investigators’ vehicle with the front driver’s side of his vehicle.

Minckler then reportedly fled the scene southbound on 11 with investigators Harriger and Grant in pursuit.

The pursuit continued onto 481 south then onto Northern Blvd. then onto Thompson Road where the investigators terminated the pursuit after losing sight of the suspect vehicle.

A Be On the Look Out (BOLO) was put out for the suspect vehicle by Onondaga County 911 and approximately 8 minutes later, the vehicle was located by town of  Cicero Police Officer Dan Leneker, on Lakeshore Road in the town of Cicero.

The suspect again failed to comply and was pursued by Officer Leneker onto Route 31 westbound where the suspect vehicle struck two utility poles on the north side of the road, police said.

Minckler was taken into custody without incident.

He was transported to Upstate University Hospital where he was treated for a complaint of pain to his left shoulder.

He was released and transported to State Police North Syracuse where he was charged with the listed charges. missing or outdated ad config
