OSWEGO – The Oswego School Board filled two administrative positions at Tuesday’s meeting.
The board approved Lisa Marie Carter of Clay as the new director of Special Education.
She will begin her duties as of July 21.
Her starting salary is $95,000.
Jennifer Sullivan of Fulton was appointed as the new principal at Minetto Elementary School.
She will begin her duties on July 31.
Her starting salary is $91,940.
This was the board’s first foray into paperless meetings. The agenda was conducted online.
There were a few glitches to start with.
Board member Lynda Sereno pointed out there were some new resolutions, that didn’t have any backup information included.
“There’s no lull during the summer in Central Offices,” Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey said. “Administrators are still very busy. Some times, we’ll have what we used to call ‘walk-ins’ (resolutions that come before the board without committee consideration). Now will have them updated in real time as soon as personnel is able to make the resolution.”
“If you’re going to recommend somebody without having met at the committee meetings, I would prefer to have the backup sent to me because I’m voting on something,” Sereno said.
The superintendent said he will send board members an alert via email to inform them of such things in the future.
He did that Tuesday afternoon as soon as (District Clerk) Karen (Conzone) and he reviewed the final agenda, he added.
However, no backup was uploaded to the Board Docs system that board members are now using, Sereno pointed out.
The staff is all trying to get things done as quickly as possible, “to get principals and directors in place so that we can open up schools with administrators, principals and directors who’ve been in place for at least a month,” Dr. Goewey said, adding that this was the first time the new system was used at a meeting.
