School, Library Boards To Elect Officers

OSWEGO, NY – The holiday is over. It’s back to work today for several governing bodies.

The Oswego City School District Board of Education will hold its reorganizational meeting this afternoon.

It will get under way at 4 p.m. in the board room at the Education Center, 120 E. First St.

Board members Samuel Tripp, John Dunsmoor and William Myer will take the oath of office.

That will be followed by the election of president and vice-president for the 2011-2012 school year.

The Oswego Public Library board of trustees will also hold its annual reorganizational meeting today.

It will start at 7 p.m.

The meeting will include the election of officers.

Meetings are held in the board room located on the lower level of the library, 120 E. Second St.

The public is welcome to attend.

The Oswego County Legislature’s Finance and Personnel Committee will meet this afternoon as well.

The meeting will take place at 2 p.m. in Conference Room “E” on the fourth floor of the Oswego County Office Building, 46 E. Bridge St.

Among the agenda items are updates on property tax cap bills, sales tax extension and a discussion of budget goals.

Three Oswego Common Council committees will convene this evening.

The Physical Services Committee will consider some requests for use of public space. They will also discuss the possibility of changing the name of another city street.

Just one item is on the agenda for the Planning and Development Committee – a request for a variance of the noise ordinance.

Among the agenda items the Administrative Services Committee will deal with are a request by a local businessman to erect a garage over an existing storm sewer, a change order that means a reduction in the in the contract price of a project, and a discussion regarding setting fees for the city’s rental of peddle boats and kayaks.
