Senator Ryan and the City of Oswego Fire Department Unveil New Self-Contained Breathing Apparatuses

“Ensuring our first responders have the equipment and resources they need to safely and effectively serve our communities has always been a top priority of mine,” saidSenator Ryan. “The City of Oswego Fire Department provides critical service to more than 250,000 people each year, and our firefighters deserve the best equipment available to protect themselves and the community they serve. It is incredibly rewarding to see projects I have helped secure funding for come to fruition and make a meaningful difference for our first responders.”

The new SBCAs will allow firefighters to safely operate in extremely dangerous conditions, such as high heat, heavy smoke and toxic fumes that pose immediate risks to health and safety.

“This investment directly improves the safety and capabilities of our firefighters,” saidOswego Fire Chief Paul Conzone. “The SCBA is among the most important pieces of protective equipment our members rely on, allowing them to operate safely in environments that are immediately dangerous to life and health. We are extremely grateful to Senator Ryan for securing this $300,000 investment and for his continued commitment to the safety of our firefighters and the community we serve.”
