Sheriff’s Office Investigating Suspected Meth Lab

OSWEGO, NY – On Oct. 11, members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office became involved in an investigation that revealed a meth lab production operation.

Deputies responded to 459 County Route 41 in the Town of Mexico on a report of suspicious items in the home.

Further investigation revealed that the property discovered were items commonly used in the manufacture of methamphetamine.

Deputies held the scene until the morning of Oct. 12, when members of the New York State Police CCSERT (Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team) responded to assist in the dismantling of the lab.

One suspect is in custody on unrelated charges.

Melanie Halsey, 26, of 459 County Route 41, Mexico, has been charged with criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument.

She was arraigned before the Hon. Michael Avery of the Village of Central Square Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $1,500 bond.
