OSWEGO, NY – “Space Day” was celebrated at the Frederick Leighton Elementary School.

Students in Laurel Artz’s sixth grade science classes shared a PowerPoint presentation using the new SMART boards.

The presentation covered the history of space exploration from the launch of Sputnik, through the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs as well as the shuttle era and NASA’s next project Constellation.

Artz was one of the first 100 to sign up planned activity on the Space Day web site so she received a special package with Space Day items to share with students including a backpack, board game, magnetic decals, pencil cases, and pencils and sharpeners as well as bookmarks and the Orion Crew Exploration Vehicle punch out desk models.

Among the students participating were Cassidy Taylor, Morgan Hillman, Cody Cheeley and Chris Dennis. missing or outdated ad config
