Student Charged After Posting Threatening Picture To Snapchat Regarding School Violence

MEXICO – At about 3 p.m. today (March 27), the New York State Police were notified of a possible threat of school violence at the Mexico High School.

The threat involved a digital image posted to snap chat.

The investigation determined that a student photographed another student holding a firearm and posted the image with a caption “Next School Shooter” on snap chat.

Both students were interviewed by state police investigators.

A 16-year-old, whose name won’t be released because of their age, was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Aggravated Harassment 2nd degree and Falsely Reporting an Incident 3rd degree, all class “A” misdemeanors.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office.
