OSWEGO – The Youth Bureau announces the winners of its children’s tree decorating contest.
“We had 55 entrees and the top three winners were chosen by public votes,” explained Jennifer Losurdo of the Youth Bureau.
The top tree decorators are: Rhian Winn (age 4), Hollie Jermyn (age 8) and Kylie Stancliffe (age 10).
Children picked up a 12-inch tree to decorate from the Youth Bureau.
“There were three categories; children 3-4 years old, 5-7 years old and 8-10 years old,” Losurdo said.
The trees were decorated any way the youngsters wished.
Prizes (Wal-Mart gift cards) were awarded to the winner of each age group.
Trees were on display in the lower level of Canal Commons from Dec. 14 through 23.
Members of the public voted by writing down the number of their favorite tree and placing it in the ballot box next to the trees.
The youngsters were able to take their trees home following the judging.
