OSWEGO, NY – Youngsters in Trinity Catholic School held a reception recently to thank their parents.
The pre-school classes served light refreshments in their classroom. They also made a variety of special gifts for the occasion.
Prior to the event, the children sat down with teachers and filled out special questionnaires.
The completed form was then used as a palcemat at the student’s desk. They shared the survey with their parents while they ate.
The survey asked a variety of questions including, “Why did God make mommy and daddy?” To which a youngster answered: “Because He likes to make mommys and daddys.”
Another noted that mom “just showed up when we were young and took care of us.”
One said her mother cooks her favorite food, spaghetti and meatballs, for her – but her grandmother doesn’t like it.
“In the old days, when daddy was little, he used to eat cereal,” one youngster noted.
One student wrote that he “wouldn’t trade my daddy for a Pillow Pet.”
They were also asked how big and strong their fathers were.
“He can lift one pound . . . and is 3,011 feet tall,” exclaimed one student.
Prior to the meal, the children in Mrs. Sabatini’s classroom recited the Hail Mary for their parents.
For special after lunch treats, students helped make miniature cherry cheesecakes for their moms and dads.
Trinity is the only Catholic school in Oswego County.
