Trooper Shoots, Kills Man With Knife In Mexico

A State Trooper shot and killed a Mexico man Friday night.

Police say Joshua A. Davies, 27, was carrying a knife and threatened to use it on Trooper Paul Darmody-Latham.  Latham was along Route 69 in Mexico, near Lincoln Rd., at about 11:00 p.m. to check a call of a suspicious person.

The Trooper said Davies was warned several times to stop coming towards him and to drop the knife.  Darmody-Latham drew his gun and shot Davies three times, killing him.

Darmody-Latham is a five year veteran of the State Police.  He was working out of the Hastings barracks.
