Two Oswego Women Arrested Following Burglary Probe

OSWEGO, NY – On Oct. 1, Oswego City Police executed a search warrant at 145 W. VanBuren St.

The search warrant execution was part of an ongoing investigation into a number of daytime burglaries that have been occurring in the city of Oswego.

As a result of the investigation, Oswego Police arrested 19-year-old Amber L. Wheeler and 20-year-old Stephanie N. Burnett, both of 145 W. VanBuren St.

Wheeler and Burnett were charged with second-degree burglary (Class C felony) and fourth-degree grand larceny (Class E felony) for their alleged involvement in a Sept. 27 residential burglary.

Wheeler and Burnett were arraigned in Oswego City Court on Oct. 2 and were each remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail / $10,000 bond with a court date, returnable to Oswego City Court on Oct. 5.

According to Oswego City Police Chief Michael J. Dehm Jr. “We believe that these two suspects are responsible for a number of other daytime burglaries in the city of Oswego. We are continuing our investigation and are asking for help from the public. These two females have been reportedly observed knocking on doors in area neighborhoods, specifically, in the area of West Eighth Street near Tallman or Erie streets. If anyone has any information, or has actually observed these females knocking on doors in their neighborhood please contact Oswego Police Investigators at (315) 342-8130.  I would also like to credit the officers and investigators who put in numerous man-hours into this investigation with a job well done.”
