UPDATE
Preliminary investigations into Friday’s crash show that the motorcycle was traveling eastbound on State Route 104 in the area of 290 State Route 104.
Witnesses stated that the motorcycle was observed accelerating at a high rate of speed.
While at the same time, the Chevy was traveling westbound on NY 104 and attempted to make a left hand turn into a commercial establishment.
The motorcycle attempted to slow down prior to entering the intersection but was unable to, ultimately striking the Chevy causing the operator the motorcycle to be ejected.
The operator of the 1988, Suzuki was identified as 47-year-old Jarold J. Smith, of Oswego.
Smith died from his injuries at the hospital.
The driver of the Chevy Equinox has been fully cooperative with police.
That driver was also evaluated at the hospital, treated and released.
No tickets have been issued at this time.
The Oswego City Police Department does not believe there was alcohol (or drug) involvement.

OSWEGO – On Friday, 06/21/2019 at about 3:27 p.m., members of the Oswego City Police Department responded to the area of 290 State Route 104 for a motor vehicle collision with injuries.
Upon arrival, officers observed that a blue, 2014 Honda CRV, and a green, 1988 Suzuki motorcycle had been involved in a collision.
The operator of the 1988 Suzuki had multiple injuries and was transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse for treatment.

State Route 104 has since been reopened to traffic.
