Unattended Death West Of The Oswego Lighthouse

OSWEGO – On June 8th, 2025, at approximately 6:26pm, a caller reported finding what they believed to be a body along the break wall just west of the Oswego Lighthouse.  Members of the police and fire departments responded to the scene and located what appears to be an adult Caucasian male in advanced stages of decomposition. The deceased was under break wall rocks and surrounded by other debris. There was no identifiable information as to the identity of the deceased.  The remains were removed from the scene and transported to the Onondaga Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsy and assistance with identification.  Assistance at the scene was provided by the Oswego Fire Department Marine Unit, New York State Police – BCI, Oswego County Sheriff’s Department and the US Coast Guard – Station Oswego and Menter Ambulance.
