PALERMO, NY – After they lost their home on County Route 35 in Palermo, New York, to a fire earlier this month, Maryruth Powers and William Randall are trying to rebuild their lives.

Brittany Radley, Powers’s daughter-in-law, has organized a Go Fund Me page for the couple in hopes it can help them.

Monday, June 8, Radley received a panicked call from Radley, stating her home was on fire and Randall, her fiancé, was at work and that she barely made it out. She rushed over and the home was fully engulfed in flames.

They were not able to salvage anything except for a few small items. Due to the how quickly the home went up, two of the four family dogs were not able to escape and a couple family cats were lost to the fire as well.

“Bill and Mary are very simple people living pay check to pay check trying to make ends meet and unfortunately did not have any insurance on the home,” Radley said. “I have started a Go Fund Me to collect funds to hopefully get a new home for them.”

Radley said the couple is currently very stressed and emotional, but they were able to find an apartment to have a roof over their head. Since they were not able to save much from the fire, they only have what has been donated to them.

So far the couple has received $1,210 in donations. The Go Fund Me page has a goal of $50,000.

For clothing donations, they are looking for: Ladies medium/large shirts, Ladies size 8 pants, Shoes 8.5/9 and Men’s medium/large shirts, Size 34/32 pants, Shoes 9.5.

Radley’s can be contacted through the Go Fund Me page with where clothing can be dropped off.
