Oswego County Legislative Office Building Closing Early

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Legislative Office Building, 46 E. Bridge St., Oswego will close at 2 p.m. today, June 18 and tomorrow, June 19.

The early closures are due to concern for the health and safety of employees and the public resulting from the failure of the building’s air conditioning system and extreme high heat conditions developing inside the building during the current heat wave.

These closures affect only the offices located in the Oswego County Legislative Office Building, which will continue to be open at 8:30 a.m. every day this week.

The forecast from the National Weather Service-Buffalo Office shows excessive heat and humidity this week, with temperatures expected to be in the 90s during the day, overnight lows in the 70s, and a heat index reaching a maximum of 104 degrees.

People are advised to avoid heat-related illness by taking precautions such as drinking water, avoiding strenuous activities and staying indoors – ideally with air conditioning – during the hottest part of the day.
