Service Animals in our Central Square Redhawk Stadium

CENTRAL SQUARE, NY – We wanted to put something out to all parents/guardians to address an issue that some parents
were requesting additional information on so that all parents/guardians would have the same
information. Over the past few years, there has been a growing number of spectators bringing
dogs to the stadium while they watch athletic contests and band competitions. Some parents
have inquired about the rules regarding dogs being allowed in the stadium. The only dogs that
are allowed in the stadium must be service dogs.
The Central Square Central School District is one hundred percent compliant with all New York
State and Federal rules and regulations pertaining to this issue and while those regulations
require school districts to allow service dogs, they do not include emotional support dogs or any
other dogs that may be family pets. It has been brought to our attention that some parents
were wondering why the District allows any dogs into our stadium so we felt it was important to
provide this explanation. We will be posting signage at the stadium and our athletic fields across
the District that states that only service dogs are permitted.
As a District, we always want our community members to feel welcome and appreciated for
coming to our athletic/band competitions to support our amazing students, while also
complying with State and Federal rules and guidelines that school districts are required to
follow.
Thank you for your attention to this issue, and have a great day.
Sincerely,

Thomas J. Colabufo
