Scriba Fire Responds To The Third Fire In A Week

NEW HAVEN – Scriba Fire Department was activated for a mutual aid request at 6:58PM to respond to New Haven for a reported structure fire. This fire is one of many that have occurred in Oswego County in the last two weeks and is the third fire that Scriba Fire has been activated for in a week.

Scriba responded to the scene with two chief officers and two engines. Working along side New Haven and Mexico Fire Departments, multiple hose lines were deployed to extinguish the fire. Firefighters overcame deep snow and several obstructions in the yard to battle the flames. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire and the residents are being assisted by the Red Cross for temporary accommodations.

No firefighters were injured during the incident. The fire was brought under control at 8:13PM and Scriba members cleared the scene at 10:53PM. Scriba Fire Department provided mutual aid to New Haven Fire along with Novelis Fire, Mexico Fire, Volney Fire, Pulaski Fire, Sandy Creek, Oswego County Coordinators, and Oswego County Sheriffs Department. Oswego City Fire Department responded to one call for Scriba during this incident. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the Oswego County Fire Investigation Team.
