State Police Investigate Accident in Mexico, NY

OSWEGO COUNTY – On July 7, 2024, at about 10:15 a.m., State Police members responded to a personal injury accident on State Route 3 in the town of Mexico, involving an Amish Buggy and Kia Sedona.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 grey Kia Sedona, operated by Charles F. Barnes, age 66, from Oswego, NY, was traveling north on State Route 3, in the town of Mexico, and attempted to pass the Amish Buggy traveling on the east shoulder. Barnes attempted to merge back into the driving lane after sighting oncoming traffic, and struck the rear portion of the buggy.

The occupants of the Amish buggy were Ben Miller, age 17, from Mexico, NY, and Emma Miller, age 21, from Mexico, NY, who were both transported to Upstate Hospital in critical condition.

Barnes was transported to Oswego Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.
