State Police Investigate Threat At Central Square Walmart

OSWEGO COUNTY – On Thursday, December 5, 2025, at about 7:30 p.m., State Police and the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Walmart on State Route 49 in the village of Central Square to investigate a reported threat.

The preliminary investigation revealed that an anonymous person called Walmart and stated they were inside the store armed with weapons and threatened violence.  Troopers evacuated shoppers and employees and conducted a search, which included K9 units from both the State Police and the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office. Nothing was found during the search to substantiate the threat, and the store was re-opened. The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation is continuing to investigate the origin of the threat.
