OSWEGO COUNTY – On June 18, 2024, the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit in Troop D conducted a narcotics/firearms interdiction detail in Oswego County. During the detail Troopers conducted 53 vehicle stops, issued 36 tickets, and arrested five individuals for narcotics/firearms related crimes.
During one vehicle stop on North Main Street in the village of Central Square, Equell L. Faison, age 20, from Syracuse, Rodney Jimenez, age 19, from Syracuse, and an 18-year-old male, were found to be in possession of a loaded semi-automatic “Ghost” handgun and a quantity of powder cocaine.
They were arrested for Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd (class “C” felony), Criminal Possession of a Firearm (class “E” felony), and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree (class “A” misdemeanor)
They were transported to Oswego County Jail pending arraignment.
A “Ghost” gun is a gun without a serial number.
The Community Stabilization Unit was assisted by the New York State Police Violent Gangs Narcotics Enforcement Team and the New York State Police Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit.
