GRANBY, NY — The Town of Granby is proud to announce the establishment of the Granby Community Activities Team (CAT), a volunteer group dedicated to enhancing the lives of residents through free, family-oriented events and activities.
The Granby Town Board unanimously approved a resolution to establish a community activities team on February 12, 2025. The Town Council has allocated a budget for this initiative.
“The Town of Granby Community Activities Team works to inspire connections, creativity, and civic pride,” said John Snow, Town Supervisor. “Their efforts are a driving force behind the vibrant, strong, and welcoming community we are so proud to call home.”
The Granby CAT is already hard at work planning the town’s flagship event, “Balloons Under the Moon.” This inaugural event aims to bring joy and wonder to residents and visitors, featuring the breathtaking sight of colorful hot air balloons glowing against the evening sky. Attendees can also look forward to a balloon walk, bounce houses, balloon animals, food trucks, vendors, live entertainment, and more. There will also be photo opportunities inside the baskets of the tethered hot air balloons throughout the evening.
“Balloons Under the Moon” is free to the public and is scheduled for Thursday, August 21st, with a rain date of August 28th, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The event will take place at Don Butler Soccer Park, 300 Chase Road in Granby. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and/or lawn chairs for a comfortable viewing experience. More information about the event will be shared as the date approaches.
