TOWN OF CICERO, NY – The New York State Department of Transportation is alerting motorists that traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on the Taft Road bridge over I-81 in the Town of Cicero beginning Wednesday, April 5. The lane closures are necessary to facilitate the continuation of the full bridge rehabilitation project that began in the spring of 2022 and are expected to be in place through the month of June.
Once completed, the project will extend the service life of the Taft Road bridge by repairing or replacing joints and bearings, abutments, concrete and elements of the substructure.
Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay attention to all traffic control devices, including signs and flaggers.
Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in work zones. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
