CONSTANTIA, NY – State Police in Hastings is investigating a fatal crash that occurred this morning on County Route 23 in the town of Constantia.
The preliminary investigation has revealed, at approximately 5:44 a.m., a 2020 Nissan Kicks was traveling northbound on County Route 23 when it drove off the west side of the roadway and struck a tree. The vehicle subsequently became engulfed in flames and both the driver and passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The names of the occupants will not be released at this time due to their extent of injuries. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the positive identification of both driver and passenger.
The investigation is continuing.
