OSWEGO, NY – Operators at Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station returned Unit 2 to full power operation Tuesday morning (Feb. 24) after addressing an electrical issue.
On February 18, technicians were performing maintenance when a valve was inadvertently activated, causing water levels in the reactor to rise temporarily.
Operators followed procedures and manually removed the unit from service to address the condition.
Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station is located seven miles northeast of Oswego and 50 miles north of Syracuse.
The station can produce more than 1,937 megawatts of carbon-free electricity – enough to power more than 1 million typical homes.
