Ann M. Keen

PITTSTON, PA – Paste Obituary Here:: Ann Munley Keen died peacefully, surrounded by love, on August 15, 2026, at the age of 88.
Ann was born Eleanor Munley in Pittston, Pennsylvania, into a big family that filled her childhood with the joys of loving parents, three sisters, two brothers, and countless hours reading books and playing board games. She graduated from Marywood College in 1960 with a teaching degree. On a blind date, she met Edward Keen, beginning an indomitable partnership that would span more than six decades. Ann proved to be the perfect complement to Ed’s more introspective nature, bringing her energy, warmth, and wit to their partnership. Together they created a home for their four children filled with faith, laughter, books, encouragement, more books, and unfailing presence.
Ann devoted her professional life to the field of education. While raising her family, she contributed her skills as an administrative assistant at Oswego Catholic/Bishop Cunningham High School in Central New York. She then returned to her educational roots and taught fourth grade for many years at St. Paul’s Academy. After impressively earning a master’s degree from SUNY Oswego while working full-time, she flourished as an educator of educators. Through every role, she helped shape so many lives and nurture a love of both teaching and learning.
Ann quietly but effortlessly drew people together. She possessed a gift for making others feel welcomed, valued, and heard. Whether among family, friends, colleagues, students, church communities, travel companions, or bridge partners, she cultivated friendships with attention, care, and sincerity. Ann’s mind was extraordinary, her sense of humor quick and delightful, and her enthusiasm for people contagious.
Ann was also remarkably selfless. She consistently placed the needs, successes, and happiness of others ahead of her own. Her devotion to her family was steadfast, and her belief in God and the goodness of people shaped every aspect of her life. She found joy in meaningful conversation, new experiences, treasured friendships, travel near and far, a good laugh, and a hot cup of tea.
Ann and Ed’s marriage began in Pennsylvania, headed south to West Virginia, west to Nebraska, east to New York, and then came full circle with a return to family in Pennsylvania. Wherever Ann lived, she created community. Wherever she went, she engaged. Whatever she had, she shared.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Edward Gerald Keen, and by her parents, Edward and Lenore (Kilgallen) Munley, her sisters Joann (Munley) Ennis and Beth Munley, and her brothers Ned Munley and Mike Munley.
She is survived by her children, Ted (Sally Ann Law) Keen, Mary Keen (Greg) Krikorian, Margaret Keen (Pat) Keating, and Ann Keen; her sister Rosemary Baldi; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and dear friends.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 11 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 300 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. A time of visitation will be held from 10 AM until the start of the service. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family at Saint Joseph’s New Catholic Cemetery, Lancaster.
