Clara E. Hanlon, 78

Clara E. Hanlon, 78, of Hannibal, died Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.

Born in Seneca Falls, she was a life resident of Hannibal.

Clara was a housekeeper at Michaud Nursing Home for over 20 years, retiring in 1995.  She was a member of God’s Vision Christian Church in Hannibal.  Clara was a member of the Hannibal V.F.W. Post 5380 Ladies Auxiliary and several area senior citizens groups.

She was predeceased by her parents, Howard and Bertha Bishop Sherman and by a brother, James Sherman.

Clara is survived by her children, Sonya (Robert) Malone, Steven (Jean) Hanlon, Howard M. Hanlon all of Hannibal and Hal (Andrea) Hanlon of Oswego; four sisters, Sylvia Jenks of Sterling, Alice (Elmer) Bartlett of Hannibal, Gloria (Wayne) Gardner of Kirkville and Lburta (Louis) Lachut of Hannibal; one brother, David Sherman of Holiday, FL; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday with a 5 p.m. service to follow at Foster Funeral Home, 837 Cayuga Street, Hannibal.  Graveside services are 10 a.m. Monday at Hannibal Village Cemetery, Hannibal.
