Dr. David Charles Harp, Sr.

Dr. David Charles Harp, Sr., age 76, of Greensburg, Indiana passed away on June 26, 2020, at his home surrounded by family and close friends.
He was born on August 9, 1943 in Fulton, New York to George and Sylvia (Hine) Harp. He grew up in Minetto, New York and attended Oswego High School. He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo, in New York, and his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, Indiana.
In 1971, David moved to Greensburg and started his career as a chiropractor. In addition to his office in Greensburg, he had an office in Kokomo, Indiana for many years. His career as a chiropractor, which was also his life-long passion, continued for 47 years, until he retired in 2017. David was named “Chiropractor of the Year” numerous times in both offices. David’s son, Jason, followed in his father’s footsteps, and, after graduating from Life Chiropractic College, he joined his father in the Kokomo office where Jason still practices today.
In addition to chiropractic, David enjoyed many other interests and hobbies throughout his life, such as, metal-detecting, bird watching, planting trees, debating philosophically, playing Blackjack, relaxing on the beaches of Lake Michigan and reading books on a wide variety of topics. He was also a huge lover of food, and he particularly enjoyed banana cream pie, the fish sandwich from Rudy’s in New York, hot dogs from Heid’s of Liverpool, NY and, pretty much, every bakery he stumbled upon.

David was preceded in death by his parents. David was married to Ginger (Brown), his best friend, and she survives him. He is also survived by his children: David (Jenny) Harp, Jr., Noblesville, IN; Jason (Holly) Harp, Noblesville, IN; Carrie Grenier, Indianapolis, IN; Heather (Justin) Halverson, Indianapolis, IN; Sarah (Casey) Enstrom, Bruceville, Texas; Laura Beth (Chris) Walker, Plainfield, IN; Kelsi (Austin) Matherly, Terre Haute, IN; Bobby Brown, Greensburg, IN, 21 ½ grandchildren, and his beloved four-legged partner in crime, Mollie Rue.

Visitation for family and friends, observing CDC precautions, will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 from 4 to 7:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg, Indiana.
A public rosary will be prayed at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1st at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg with the funeral mass to follow at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Bill Ehalt officiating. The church asks that all attending the service wear masks. Memorials may be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg, IN.
