Eleanor “Fergie” Boyd, 96, passed away peacefully on February 25th.

Born in Orion, Illinois, she graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she met, and later married, Dr. Maurice O. Boyd. They moved to Oswego, NY in 1946 when her husband was appointed Chairman of the Music Dept at SUNY Oswego.

Fergie lived a life too full to be represented in this small space. She was a talented violinist, pianist and vocalist. Not only did she perform with her husband and family, she also taught piano and was a member of the Piano Teacher’s Guild of CNY. As a world traveler, her most memorable destination was Vienna, Austria, where she and her family spent an entire year.

Surviving are a son, William (Audrey) Boyd of Chittenango, NY; and two daughters, Susan Boyd (Mike Nolan) of Fairport, NY and Elizabeth Boyd (Bradley) Johnson of Seattle, WA; grandson, Martin Boyd and granddaughter, Emily Johnson.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm Sunday at Eaton-Tubbs-Schepp Funeral Home, 7191 E. Genesee St., Fayetteville. Services will be private. Contributions may be made to the Maurice O. Boyd Scholarship Fund, SUNY Oswego, 219 Sheldon Hall, Oswego, NY 13126.
