OSWEGO, NY – Elizabeth J. “Betty” Ravas, 89, a resident of Simeon-Dewitt Apartments passed away on Sept. 19, 2009, at Oswego Hospital.
Born in Oswego, she was a daughter of the late John and Hazel (Proud) Woods and had attended Oswego schools.
She was employed in Food Service at SUNY Oswego and later was a sales clerk at the Eastside Variety, and Tot and Teen.
She enjoyed cards, bunco and bingo.
Mrs. Ravas is survived by three daughters, Carol (Robert) Nosky, Shirley (Joseph) Castiglia and Barbara Wiltsie all of Oswego; one son, John (Charlene) Ravas of New Haven; a sister, Mary Ravas of Oswego; a brother, James Walsh of Washington; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and many friends at Simeon-Dewitt.
She was predeceased by her husband, George B. “Irish” Ravas, in 1999; a son, George F. Ravas, in 1997; and a grandson, John Ravas Jr., in 1988.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from St. Paul’s Church.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m.
