Ethel E. Taplin, 88

OSWEGO, NY – Ethel E. Taplin, 88, a resident of East Second Street in Oswego, passed away Wednesday March 24, 2010, at Oswego Hospital.

Mrs. Taplin was born in Mexico, NY, the daughter of the late John and Hettie (Clemons) Strong.

She was a life resident of the area.

She was the wife of the late Elmon Taplin, who died in 1966.

Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Taplin was employed, for 27 years, as a cook with Vona’s Restaurant in Oswego.

Mrs. Taplin loved all animals, but she had a special love for cats.

She is survived by a daughter, Sheila (Gene) Lewis of Linden, Tenn.; a son, Elmon Taplin Jr. of Oswego; a brother, James (Claire) Strong of Oswego; five grandchildren, Kathy, Ricky, Doris, John and Kim; several great-grandchildren; and close friends, Jim, Sandy, and Laurie Hall.

She was predeceased by a son, David Bennett.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 E. Second St., Oswego.

Burial will be in New Haven Cemetery.
