Francis A. “Frank” Adams

REDFIELD, NY – Francis A. “Frank” Adams, 90 of Redfield, NY passed away Monday April 28, 2025, in the Oneida Health Hospital after a brief illness.
” Frankie” was born in Osceola October 19, 1934, a son of James A. Adams & Julia Helbock Adams.  He resided in Redfield for most of his life where he operated his own logging business Adams and Bumpus Logging with his partner Lloyd Bumpus. He then opened his own business as Francis A. Adams Logging. There aren’t many areas in Tug Hill where he didn’t harvest trees.
He served in the United States Army from 1955-1957.
He ran the Redfield Hotel for many years with his wife Sookie.  He was a member of the Redfield Fire Department, served as Redfield Town Supervisor, Redfield Town Highway Superintendent and was a very active member of the Redfield Snowmobile Club ending his time with the club as the Grooming Coordinator.
He was an avid deer hunter and hunted with his sister & brother, brother-in-law, Grandkids and Great Grandkids, nephews and a slew of guys from Central New York. He made friends with hundreds of people with his hospitality and love of life.
Frankie was predeceased by his wife Sookie Yerdon Adams in October 2015, infant son James; 1 brother John and 4 sisters Alice, Marion, Mureta and Kathleen. He is survived by companion Shirley Mahaffy. Together they wintered in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
Also surviving him are his daughter Julie Darling, grandchildren James (Laura) Darling, Chelsea & Shania Darling (Rodney Trumble); great grandsons-Jaeden, Blake, Mason, Colley, Kelton, Tyler and great granddaughters-Cassidy, Autumn and Ashlynn; sister Julie “Marie” and brother Carl, several nieces & nephews’
Frankie wished for no viewing or services. He will be cremated, and his cremains will be placed in a niche along with Sookie at St. Mary Cemetery & Mausoleum in Camden, NY.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future time & date to be announced.
