PHOENIX, NY – Ellen G. Ridgway, 92, of Richland, former Phoenix, NY,
resident, passed away Sunday Dec. 17, 2017, at Oswego Hospital after a short illness.
She was born in Newark, NY, on Feb. 25, 1925, to Lucinda (Thomas) and Joseph Grieve.
Ellen was a lab supervisor for General Foods Corp., Fulton, retiring in 1991 after 23 years of service.
She was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and its Altar Rosary Society, Phoenix.
She was predeceased by her husband of 65 years, Gordon E. Ridgway, in 2010; her son, Allan T. Ridgway, in 1989; her sister, Elizabeth J. Leal in 2014.
Surviving are her daughters, Barbara J. Worns (John Hubbard) of Richland and Cynthia L. “Cindi” Ridgway of Fayettville; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Friday Dec. 22, from 10 a.m. until noon in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY.
Vigil prayers may be offered in the funeral home prior to our departure for church.
The funeral mass will begin at 1 p.m. in St. Stephen’s Church, 469 Main St., Phoenix, with the Rev. Philip Brockmyre officiating.
Spring burial will be in Phoenix Rural Cemetery.
