Richard Anthony Swift

LIVERPOOL, NY – Richard Anthony Swift, 83, of Liverpool, NY passed away surrounded by his family at St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center in Syracuse, NY on Aug. 16, 2023. Born in Chadwicks, NY to his late parents Marion F. (Lindsay) and William R. Swift on Nov. 20, 1939.

He was a sonar engineer for G. E. Co., for 36 years and Lockheed Martin Co. for 2 years, retiring in 1995.

Richard loved sailing and was a full certified U.S. Power Squadron education officer; and a member of the Onondaga Yacht Club and Henderson Harbor Yacht Club; an R.V. enthusiast traveling for more than 20 years; and he built his own computer.

Swift was predeceased by his son Joseph R. Swift on Apr. 24, 2010; and his two brothers. Surviving are his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy L. (Weise) Swift of Liverpool; two sons John P. Swift of Liverpool, and William M. (Debra) Swift of East Syracuse; one daughter Cynthia (Scott) Lees of Clay; five grandchildren Chelsey, Hannah, Meghan, Alex, and Adam; two great-grandsons Oliver and Sebastian.

Calling hours are on Sunday Aug. 20, 2023 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix, NY. 13135

Graveside service on Monday Aug. 21, at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Cemetery, 8668 County Route 57, (Baldwinsville) in Clay, NY, with Deacon Bill Dotterer officiating
