Barbara A. MacEwen

FULTON – September 27, 2026, Barbara Anne (Burnett) MacEwen, 90, of Volney passed away Sunday, September 27, 2026 at Seneca Hill Manor following a brief illness.

Barbara was born in Fulton to Arthur W. and Agnes (Lepine) Burnett. She met the love of her life Chester “Chet” MacEwen in school when they were in their teens and were married for 63 years.

After raising her family, she worked as the Town Clerk for the Town of Volney for 20 years. Barbara was recognized for her service to the community and dedication to the ideals of honorable public service as the District 5 New York State Town Clerk of the Year in 2014.

Barbara had a tremendous love for her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, NASCAR, Hallmark movies and being a greeter at her church. There was nothing she loved more than to put a smile on someone’s face.

She is survived by her sons, Steve MacEwen and Bruce (Andrea) MacEwen; her daughter, Marie Pebbles; her sisters, Arlene Jenkins, Mary Rice and Donna James; three grandsons; six granddaughters; five great grandsons; two great granddaughters as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her husband, Chester “Chet” MacEwen; her brothers, Bob Burnett, Phil Burnett and Ephraim Burnett; her sisters, Louise Burdick and Veronica Rose Rice, and by infant twin daughters.

Calling hours will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Tuesday, October 6, 2026 with services to follow at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton. Private burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Volney. Condolences for Barbara’s family may be shared at www.brownfuneralhomefulton.com.
