FULTON – August 28, 2028, Fred M. Lovell, Sr. 75, of Fulton passed away at his son’s home in Lake Havasu, Arizona on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Fred was born in Fulton on February 19, 1950 to Roy and Marie Loveall and attended Hannibal High School. He was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. While recovering in Valley Forge from gunshot wounds he received in the war, Fred met a young nurse, Madelyn Morris, who would soon become his wife. Fred was honorably discharged in 1971 and enrolled in a trade school in Pennsylvania. He studied the electrical trade and worked an electrician until he became 100% military disabled due to complications from surgery.
Fred was a member of the VVnW (Veterans of the Vietnam War) motorcycle club that participated in the Rolling Thunder Ride Washington D.C. He moved to South Dakota in 1990 and raised horses until moving back to Fulton in 1993 with the horses in tow. Fred was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church and will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his children, Fred (Amy) Lovell, Jr. of Lake Havasu, AZ, Lisa (David) Mero of Fulton and David Lovell of Denver, CO; his former son-in-law, David Gerth of Jordan, NY; grandchildren, Zachery Lovell, Abigail (Diego) Cortes, Connor Lovell, Kari Barrios, AJ Mooney, Emily Gerth, Michael (Kaylee) Gerth, Katie Gerth, Makala (Zachary) Cole and Valerie Mero; great grandchildren, Madelyn Cortes, Ezekiel Cortes, Liam Cole, Oliver Cole and Sara Mero; his siblings, Dolores Cutrie of Florida, Sharon (Joe) Guarrera of Oklahoma, Sheila (Larry) Ferriter of Wolcott, Cecil Loveall of Fulton, Cleatus Loveall of Phoenix and Michael Bough of Fulton as well as several beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to his parents, Fred was predeceased by his wife of nearly 50 years, Madelyn Morris Lovell; his siblings, Shirley Butchino, Harold Loveall and Shelly Bough; his niece, Linda Van Auken and by his nephew, Elmer Butchino.
A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2025 with memorial services to follow at 11 a.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton. Inurnment and military honors will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Fulton.
