FULTON – November 2, 2025, James “Danny” Knight, 78, of Fulton passed away Sunday, November 2, 2025 with his daughter and granddaughters by his side. He was born in Fulton on July 19, 1947 to James E. Knight and Angie Vescio Knight and was a graduate of Manlius School in 1965. Danny enlisted into the U.S. Air Force in 1966 and upon his honorable discharge served in the Air National Guard until 1972. He had been employed at General Electric and Black Clawson before becoming a member of the Fulton Fire Department in 1980. Danny retired in 2000 after 20 years of dedicated service to the City of Fulton. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed his time at his camp on the Oswego River and was known as an avid fisherman and a horrible hunter. Danny was a computer whiz and spent his free time writing computer programs.
He is survived by his sons, James Peter (Rebecca) Knight of Fulton and Scott (Billie Jo) Knight of Hannibal; his daughters, Sarah (Al) Smith of Fulton and Susan Daniels of Fulton; his sisters, Margaret Ann Hutchins of Auburn, Luann Constanza of Oswego and Mary Ann (Tim) Colbert of Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren, Courtney, Cara (Bob), Alison, Sydney (Sebastien), Mia, Morgan, Bryce, Taylor (Paul) and Cole; two great grandsons, Henry Charles “Hank” and Elijah; his special sister-in-law, Karen (Romey) Caruso of Oswego and their children, Aryelle (Austin) and Cameron as well as several nieces and nephews. Dan was fortunate to have many dear friends and a lifelong best friend, Mark Pollock. In addition to his parents, Danny was predeceased by his beloved wife, Reyne L. Knight, son-in-law, Alan Daniels and brother-in-law, Fred Hutchins.
A calling hour will be held from 12 to 1 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2025 with a memorial service to follow at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.
