Robert C. Kerfien

FULTON – August 4, 2025, Robert C. Kerfien, 89, of Volney passed away at home on Monday, August 4, 2025. He was born in Volney on April 25, 1936 to Lottie Mae and Leslie F. Kerfien, Sr. and was a graduate of Fulton High School. Bob was a 50-year member of the Operating Engineers Local #545, Syracuse and was the former Superintendent of the Town of Volney Highway Department. He was also employed and retired from the Oswego County Highway Department. Bob enjoyed car racing, he was very active and traveled extensively with the I.S.M.A. Car Racing and operated a push truck at the Oswego Speedway for the Big Block Supers. When he was not at the track he would often watch the races on tv along with watching his favorite baseball team the NY Yankees. He was a life member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Fulton Lodge #1280 and a member of the Masons.

 

Bob is survived by his daughters, Candie Goodno and Kellie Heiselman; grandchildren, Timothy Goodno, Kurt Heiselman, Jeffrey Onken, Thomas A. Kerfien, III and Amelia Heiselman; his brothers, Fredrick, Edward and Thomas Kerfien; his stepdaughters, Penny Sheldon and Kathy Durfey and by his stepson, Thomas Kerfien. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Patricia; his daughter, Kimberly Kerfien-Drinnen; brothers, Leslie Jr., Duane, Floyd, Richard and Charles Kerfien; his sister, Donna Gilliland; son-in-law, William Goodno; stepson, Jerry Kerfien; grandsons, William Goodno and Corey Onken.

 

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2025 with services to follow at Brown Funeral Home, 21 Flood Drive in Fulton. Private burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Volney. Contributions in Robert’s memory may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association online at www.mda.org.
