
OSWEGO – Bernard Coe, 71, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at his son’s home in North Carolina after fighting a courageous battle with lung cancer.
He was predeceased by his mother, Joyce (Pitcher) Vickery, father, Raymond Vickery, biological father, Bernard Coe, and sister, Sandi Vickery.
He is survived by his loving partner of 22 years, Julie McNulty, son, Glenn (Christine) Coe, daughter, Cheryl (Harry Irias) Coe, stepchildren, Jennifer (Patrick) Suydam, Michelle McNulty, and Katherine (Alex) Caruso, sister, Terry (Santo) Pagano, brother, Craig (Mary) Coe, and sister, JoRae (Peter) Tomlinson, grandchildren, Eden, Jaxon, Ryder, and Josie, former wife, Joyce Ketchen, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Coe was a veteran of the United States Army serving from 1972-1975, stationed in Europe during the Vietnam War.
He worked at the Nine Mile Point Unit 2 Nuclear Station as an electrician and chief union steward for many years until his retirement.
Bernie was a loving partner, father, brother, and mostly a friend to all.
He loved working in his yard and making improvements on his home. He loved to putter in his garage and even had a recliner and TV set up where he would sit and think of what project to do next. He loved to bake and was famous for his cinnamon rolls. He was a very generous, selfless man who was always willing to help someone in need. He loved teasing anyone he met and loved to talk and make people laugh. He took joy in visiting his favorite watering holes where he would meet up with all his buddies.
He was a season ticket holder for SU football even traveling to some of the games and bowl games. He watched the Yankees, thanks to his mom.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 from the Dowdle Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 – 6:00.
