Carmella T. ‘Mickey’ Silliman, 74

OSWEGO, NY – Carmella T. “Mickey” Silliman, 74, passed away unexpectedly Sunday November 30, 2014, at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Mary Cernaro.

Mickey attended St. Mary’s School and was a graduate of Oswego High School.

Upon her graduation, she worked at the New York Telephone Company for two years.

Later in life, she found employment at Loblaw’s and Castro’s before becoming an aide at the Oswego High School, where she assisted students in the computer lab for 20 years.

Carmella was an avid Mets fan and pet lover.

Mickey could often be found at the Oswego Speedway or the Oswego County Quarter Midget Club indulging in her love of racing.

She enjoyed baking and spending hours in the kitchen, but her greatest love was her family and the time spent with them.

Surviving Mickey are two daughters, Mary (Tony) Riposo of Syracuse and Ann (Martin) Tunaley of Oswego; her son, Mike (Staci) Silliman of Oswego; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Silliman; and her godson, Trevor Lanigan.

Friends are welcome to call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m.

Immediately following the conclusion of calling hours, all are welcome to celebrate a memorial of Mickey’s life at the funeral home.
