OSWEGO, NY – Daniel F. LaFave, 79, a resident of Klocks Corners Road, passed away on Monday January 7, 2013, at Oswego Hospital.
Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Alice (Pepper) LaFave and had attended local schools.
He was employed with the Container Corporation for 30 years.
Mr. LaFave was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving with the United States Army.
He was a member of the VFW in Scriba and Pulaski.
He was also a member of the Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church and was an avid woodworker.
Surviving are his longtime companion, Gloria White; three daughters, Lois (Leroy Jr.) Bowen of Pulaski, Shirl (Tony) Cortese of Volney and Sandy (Fred) Jordan of North Syracuse; a brother, Peter LaFave of Fulton; a sister, Jean Truax of Oswego; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Naomi LaFave, in August 2000; his daughter, Linda Marris, in August 2012; and a sister, Alberta Jones.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Dowdle Funeral Home.
Spring burial will be in Hillside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
