OSWEGO, NY – Elizabeth M. (Powell) Mazzoli, 83, a resident of 65 E. Utica St., Oswego, passed away on Sunday Feb. 20, 2011, at her home.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Alphanso and Edith (Carrier) Powell.
She was a graduate of Oswego High School and received her Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Oswego.
Elizabeth received her Master’s Degree in Music from the SUNY Fredonia.
She was employed with the Oswego City School District as a music teacher at various schools from 1951-1982.
She was the choir director at the Trinity United Methodist Church for 50 years.
Elizabeth was an animal lover and an avid gardener.
Surviving are two stepsons, Angelo (Lois) Mazzoli Jr. of Oswego and Jeff (Cathy) Mazzoli of South Carolina; three stepdaughters, Mary Wills of Florida, Catherine (David) Benzing of Oswego and Margie Gill of Fulton; several step-grandchildren and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband, Angelo, in 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at the Dowdle Funeral Home.
Spring burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Friday from 5-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church or the Oswego County Humane Society.
