Elizabeth R. Chetney, a resident of Oswego passed away on August 17, 2025 at the Oswego Hospital.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late James and Frances (Cortese) Bradford. She was a graduate of the Oswego High School and had attended SUNY Oswego and Syracuse University.
She was co-owner of the Lupe’s Sports Shop and was employed with the Department of Social Services.
Elizabeth was the former president of the Beta Pi Kap and was an Osteoporosis instructor. She was a member of Zonta, RSVP and the Port City Red Hats.
Surviving are her children, James (Bridget) Chetney of Oswego, Lisa (Donald) Teifke of Mexico, Jeffrey (Helen) Chetney of Oswego, a brother, James Bradford of Rochester, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Chetney in 2001, longtime companion, Francis Cutro and her brother, Sam Bradford.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 from Christ the Good Shepherd
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00-7:00
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society of CNY.
