Ellen Jeanne Burden Coyer

OSWEGO, NY – Ellen Jeanne Burden Coyer, of Greenwich, Connecticut; Davidson, North Carolina; Bradenton, Florida, passed on Thursday July 17, 2014, after suffering a stroke on Monday July 7, 2014.

Jeanne was born in Oswego, on May 18, 1931 to Anna and Paul Burden.

Jeanne graduated from Fordham University in New York with a teaching degree.

She taught at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Greenwich, Conn., before becoming a homemaker for her husband and children.

Jeanne is preceded in death by her husband, Frederick J. Coyer (Ted); and her two sisters, Betty Burden and Anne (Ed) Chute; and her parents, Anna and Paul Burden of Greenwich, Connecticut; also her in-laws, Mary and Ted Coyer, Peggy Stevens and Dick Coyer of Oswego.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Elizabeth Deeg and husband, Thomas Deeg (China Grove, NC) Jeanne Coyer and fiance, John Bayne (Cornelius, NC), Ted Coyer and wife, Jodi Coyer (Cornelius, NC).

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Justin and Tyler Hardy, Ryan, James, Cameron, and Sabrina Dennehy and Teddy Coyer of North Carolina; in-laws, Barbara and Ed Caraccioli and Barbara Sanford Coyer of Oswego; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanne loved her rescue dog, Savannah, and all animals.

She enjoyed sailing, swimming in the waves at the beach, camping, traveling, bowling, tennis, and golf.

She was a very active 83 years young lady.

She loved to spend time with her family and especially her grandchildren who adored her!

She was a sweet, caring, and generous person who lived life to its fullest everyday!

Family will greet friends and family members on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Dowdle Funeral Home, 154 E. Fourth St., Oswego.

A mass celebrating her life will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, West Seventh Street, Oswego, on Saturday at 9 a.m.

Interment immediately following at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Route 481, Oswego.
