OSWEGO COUNTY – Gene J. Austin, 78, a resident of Scriba passed away on November 29, 2024.
He was born in Oswego on December 1, 1945, and was a son of the late Gene and Peggy (Broadwell) Austin He was a graduate of Oswego High School and earned a degree from SUNY Oswego.
Gene was employed with Shapiros as a mechanic and retired as a Correction Officer.
Gene loved to hunt and enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Surviving are his wife of forty years, Darlene (Cory) Austin, three children, Brandy Fleshman of Oswego, Gene Austin Jr. of Oswego, Cindy Matteson of Scriba, a sister, Peggy (William) Raymond of Oswego, four brothers, Ike Austin, Bobby Austin, Randy Platt, Chucky Platt, several step-children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.
He will be missed by many!
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Saturday, December 14, from 2:00 to 4:00, with a gathering to follow at Dominick’s Sports Bar, CT. RT. 51 A in Scriba at 5:00 p.m
