OSWEGO, NY – Helen M. Hoefer, 86, of Oswego, died Saturday Dec. 9, 2017, at Oswego Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of Thomas and Frances (Sczrecka) Kapuscinski and was a graduate of Oswego High School.
She was employed with General Electric for three and a half years before becoming a homemaker.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 62 years, Francis G. Hoefer.
She was an active member of St. Stephen’s Church and was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the church choir and member of the Rosary Society.
She taught fifth grade church school for 11 years.
She had a love of music and was a member of the Philomelians women’s choir.
She was also a member of the CNY Orchid Society.
She is survived by eight children, Francis (Linda), David (Diane) of Oswego and Michael (Kathy) of Acworth, Georgia, Cindy Meeker, Chris (Chip) Pelton, Therese (Jon) Chawgo, Mary (John) Stevens and Helen Bunting, of Winter Haven, Florida; 21 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Stanley (Annis) Kapuscinski and Joe (Betty) Kapuscinski; and two sisters, Frances (Paul) Kaminuk and Jane (Jack) Woods.
A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16 at noon from St. Stephen’s Church.
There are no calling hours.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oswego County Humane Society, 29 W. Seneca St., Oswego N.Y. 13126.
