James H. Woods, 83

OSWEGO, NY – James H. Woods, 83, a resident of Oswego, passed away on Wednesday June 25, 2014, at his home.

Born in Oswego, he was a son of the late Henry and Ann (Miller) Woods and was a graduate of the Minetto Union School.

He was employed with Nestles for ten years and later retired from Alcan after nearly twenty years of service.

Mr. Woods was a veteran of the United States Army.

He was a member of the American Legion #911 in Cato.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting but most of all, he enjoyed a good barbecue with his family.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, the former Jeannette St.Onge; two daughters, Jacquelyn (Phillip) Irland of Oswego and Janet (Phillip) Kelly of Minetto; a son, James H. (Lisa) Woods Jr. of Tennessee; two sisters, Catherine Chillson of Hannibal and Jane Sharkey of Oswego; two brothers, Harold Woods of Oswego and Donald Woods of Martville; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’s name to a charity of choice.
