OSWEGO, NY – Katherine A. Haynes, 79, a resident of 131 W. First St., passed away on Saturday August 18, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.
Born in Oswego, she was a daughter of the late James and Helen (Schaffer) Fantom and was a graduate of Oswego High School.
Katherine, along with her late husband, George “Ed” Haynes, owned and operated Ed’s Tavern in Minetto for more than 20 years.
She was a member of the Moose Club, loved to play bingo and was an avid card player.
Surviving are her sister, Peggy (Robert) Smith of Oswego; two brothers, James Fantom and Thomas (Shelia) Fantom both of Oswego; three grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, George “Ed” Haynes, in 2004; and her stepson, Robert Haynes.
Funeral services will be held on Thrusday at noon from the Dowdle Funeral Home with calling hours from 10:30 a.m. to noon prior to the service.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
