OSWEGO, NY – Kathlyn L. McCaffrey, 89, a resident of West Seneca Street, passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2013, at Oswego Hospital.
Born in Buffalo, she was the daughter of the late Milton and Grace (O’Connell) James.
She was a graduate of Oswego High School and had attended business school in Ithaca.
She was the bookkeeper for Smith Construction and the Oswego County Cooperative Extension.
Kathlyn was a lifelong Duplicate bridge player and tournament director. She started the Bridge Marathon at St.Mary’s Church.
She enjoyed all the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are her two daughters, Susan (Daniel) Daniloff of Sausalito, Calif. and Arlene (Robert) Sims of Horn Lake, Miss.; a son, Thomas McCaffrey of Oswego; one brother, Donald (Frances) James of Oswego; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Alan McCaffrey, Dr. Alicia G. Bond, Dr. Michelle A. Giuffrida and Paul A. Giuffrida; four great-grandchildren, Sammy, Hattie, Erik and Owen; a close friend, Pati Wells; and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Alfred McCaffrey; and her son, Barry McCaffrey.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. from St.Mary’s Church.
Burial will be in St.Peter’s Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Friday from 4-8 p.m.
